About

Why do I have a blog? In a nutshell – because I hope it will enable people to reach lasting health thru nutrition, with the right foods and supplements. I have more or less retired from practicing naturopathic medicine (I only have appointments for a couple of hours once every week or two).  This blog is my way of sharing with anyone interested what I’ve learned over the years about how to recover your health and stay well. I believe that if you spend some time learning this material and applying it carefully, you’ll be able to deal successfully with most health issues. My approach is really very simple. Our videos and blog posts will present my ideas.

The only way I’ve ever known to be healthy is through careful nutrition. Other people may know other ways. This blog is about my way, and the principles I’ve seen work for my patients for over thirty years. I think good health should be a birthright – as it was for our ancestors. I wish you well in your quest for a healthy life, which I see as the basis for whatever else it is that you really want to do.

Here is more about my background:

I have practiced naturopathic medicine since 1981. I’m a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the National College of Naturopathic Medicine and I’ve taught at all four of America’s naturopathic medical schools. I  also served for two years as Chief Medical Officer and Clinic Director at the University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine.

I’m on the honorary board of the Weston A. Price Foundation and have written for Wise Traditions, the journal of the Foundation, and for the Journal of Health and Healing, the journal of the Price-Pottenger Nutrition Foundation.

I’ve written two books - Traditional Foods Are Your Best Medicine, which presents the work of Drs. Weston Price and Francis Pottenger and the nutritional wisdom of our ancestors, and The Untold Story of Milk, which documents the history, politics and science of nature’s perfect food: raw milk from pastured cows.

In 2000 I started Dr. Ron’s Ultra-Pure, providing additive-free nutrients, formulas and special foods, and later chemical-free body care products, to my patients. My products are now available to everyone through my website.

My seven year old daughter is having severe digestive problems. When she was about 5 years old, we took her to get tested for asthma because when she is really active she develops a terrible cough. The doctor’s ruled out asthma and said she probably has acid reflux. Last month, we tested her for allergies and she is extremely allergic to anything green. I don’t want to put her on any medicine for her allergies or the acid reflux. we have decided to try the scd diet and see if we can control her systems. i want to start including probiotics in her diet. are there any other supplements we should add to her diet? we were thinking about the organ delight. thank you for your help!

    Dr. Ron,

have been doing some reading and have come across several comments that allude to the fact that once you are in good health, you will be able to tolerate foods that you cannot tolerate now. that comment is a little bit puzzling to me (have read it several times in WAPF materials).

I have severe exzcema that occurs with sugar and wheat (you helped me to ascertain that). as long as i abstain from those two foods my exzcema doesn’t bother me. when i do eat those foods i get flare ups and if i consistently eat them for a short period of time have severe reactions.

does this mean that my gastrointestinal system is flawed and that a goal of mine should be to heal my gut (on a gaps type diet) to then be able to eat those foods – although i would never include them as a big part of my diet? or are some people engineered not to be able to tolerate them and the fact that we can’t shouldn’t bother us?

    thanks, dr. ron.

Imh, you hit the nail on the head with your very last sentence.

I believe that the healthier you are the quicker your body reacts to sugar and all sorts of other refined and unsuitable foods.

I suggest she would indeed benefit from our Friendly Flora and Organ Delight; also liberal dosage of Cod Liver Oil.

Allergic to anything green? I suggest you throw the allergy test away, most are misleading, and follow my diet, as per my blog posts. It is superior to the scd diet and your daughter likely will do well on it.
